Ingredients
For the Churro Layers
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
For the Cheesecake Filling
- 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
For Topping (Optional)
- Drizzle of caramel sauce
- Dusting of powdered sugar
- Melted chocolate
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
In a small bowl, mix ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. Set aside.
Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and gently press it into the prepared baking dish, ensuring it covers the entire bottom. If using perforated dough, pinch the seams together to form a solid sheet.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, ½ cup sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth and creamy. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the crescent dough layer.
Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and carefully place it over the cheesecake filling, pressing lightly to seal the edges.
Brush the top layer with melted butter, then generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it, ensuring an even coating.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheesecake layer is set. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Slice into squares or bars and serve warm or at room temperature. Drizzle with caramel sauce, dust with powdered sugar, or add melted chocolate for an extra indulgent touch.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, bake for an additional 5 minutes to create a firmer top layer.
- Use full-fat cream cheese for the creamiest filling.
- Chill before slicing if you want neat, firm squares. The cheesecake sets better when refrigerated for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat slightly before serving for a fresh-from-the-oven taste.
- Make it extra indulgent by adding dulce de leche or Nutella between the layers.
